All *I* Did was String Beads and Sing Songs

In World War I, the Girl Guides (English and Canadian equivalent to Girl Scouts) acted as couriers for secret messages from the British counter-intelligence agency. Professional messengers were needed in the war office at the time, so they decided to use the Boy Scouts. It didn’t work out. Their replacements, the girls, were mostly ranging from fourteen to eighteen in age and were paid eight shillings a week plus food. Like other agents they were sworn to secrecy, but no one suspected them.

(Above: The Girl Guides' motto: be prepared.)

I can see myself slinking through the halls of a museum with a water gun, singing the Pink Panther tune to myself.

What I wan to know is: Was Kirsten thinking about the Girl Guides when she made Kiki a Girl Scout or was it unintentional?

Girl Guide is not a fancy English way to say Girl Scout! The Girl Guides are basically the Canadian and English equivalent! I am insulted and will never read your blog again!

Don't worry, I'm not really insulted.

And I WILL keep reading. (You can worry about that.)

My mother was a Girl Guide when she was a kid growing up in Canada. But
I doubt she's ever slunk through a museum with a water gun. :'(
(:Happy days...the sun is shining...but not where I am...:)
Why am I in such a good mood?
